The stimulus settings area is located below the graphs. Stimuli consist of individual pulses that are defined by three values: a start time, a duration, and an amplitude. The default setup contains three rows, but only the first row has any values in it. For each row in this section, a single pulse is labeled with an index number, starting at 1. Pulses can be removed by clicking on the “X” button to the right of the pulse settings. More pulses can be added using the “Add Pulse” button.
The “Run Simulation” button does exactly what it says. For longer simulations, there may be a delay when this button is clicked before the graph changes. This delay occurs because the computer is actually calculating the traces for the entire simulation before they are displayed. Longer simulations may result in longer delays, but the actual time will depend on the speed of the user’s computer. Note that omitting a parameter for any pulse results in that pulse being ignored. If you think you might want to use your pulse settings at a later time, you can click the “Save” button to save them, and a new button will appear in the area labeled “Saved Simulations” where you can load them at any time. If you decide that you want to start over with designing your pulses, the “Clear” button can be clicked to remove everything. To reload a previous setting, just click on the appropriate button.
